Hi everyone! I am excited to be embarking on this new journey of blogging. I have wanted to do this for quite some time and was finally able to save up a few extra bucks to get it started. I am will be 25 in January and am blessed with a wonderful fiancé who inspires/encourages me every day. We have two beautiful Golden Retrievers as well, I will put pictures of them at the end of the blog!
I was born and raised in the corn capital of the United States – Iowa. I have a two amazing parents who compliment each other in the best ways. They have gave me the best foundation and childhood I could have asked for. I also have a younger brother, who was born exactly three years and one day after me. Although we all are living in different parts of the United States, we continue to stay close and build even stronger bonds than before.
I decided to further my education at the University of Iowa, graduating with a B.A. in Health and Human Physiology and a certificate in Entrepreneurial Management. Prior to going to college, I had high hopes of becoming a dentist. That quickly changed when I took my first Biology class Sophomore year. Arianna, if you are reading this, you know first hand that I walked out of our make-up Biology exam after 5 minutes. I decided to switch to pre-occupational therapy and have all my pre-requisites completed for OT school, but decided half way through my senior year that I wanted to go into sales instead, with the hopes of one day using my degree working in medical device sales. In college, I also had two serving jobs, which taught me how to come out of my shell and be confident in myself. I feel as if everyone should be a waiter/waitress at one point and time in their life as it shows you invaluable lessons that you will not learn anywhere else; most definitely not in school.
While having no background in sales, I managed to land a job at an elevator company selling service contracts and repairs in Dallas, Texas. This is my first job out of college and I have learned more than I ever thought was possible from my boss at the time and my now best friend. Moving to Dallas was nerve racking, as I had never stepped foot in Texas. Just to preface; in college, I was quite the little partier, and liked to break all possible rules. When I moved to Texas, I quickly realized that it was time to grow up and face the real world. I met my best friend and my sister that I never had during training. I credit her to a lot of my growing up that I had done following college and becoming the person I am today. She reinforced that confidence is key and supported me through some of the hardest times in my life so far. I couldn’t be more thankful to have met her during my time in Dallas.
On September 30th, 2021, I met the love of my life. He also works for the same company as me, but in a different office at the time. We were at a co-workers going away party at Sidecar Social and had started chatting toward the end of it. We were both going to Scottsdale, Arizona that weekend and he changed his flight to come home with me. Little did he know at that time, he would be too hungover to wait until 7pm to go home and decided to fly standby to get home and recover. I still give him crap about that to this day. Like any couple, we have been through a lot together but got through it and are now engaged. He proposed to me on the day we met, exactly two years later, September 30th, 2023. We are still working on planning our wedding and have changed the location of where we want to get married about 4 times; from Cabo to Napa and Dallas to Salt Lake City. We are currently looking to get married in SLC at the summit Snowbird Mountain, but who knows, that could change again. I will keep you all updated. 🙂
Shortly after we got engaged I knew that Brandon, my fiancé, was ready to take the next step in his career. He applied to the district sales manager role in Salt Lake and quickly got through the interview process and received a job offer. He applied toward the end of October and officially started December 4th at the Salt Lake City office. I am so proud of him for stepping out of his comfort zone and taking that next step in his career.
With all that being said, we have been extremely busy the past few months and are currently doing long distance. His parents were kind enough to let me stay with them until I find a job. His dad travels for work, so it has really just been his mom, brother, and myself. We have been having a blast and I am enjoying my time with them! 🙂
I have high hopes to be living in Salt Lake City by February 15th. Long distance is hard, but doing it while being newly engaged and with two puppies just adds another layer to it. I am proud of how we have coped with it thus far, but am excited to never have to do it again.
That’s all for now! See you guys soon.
XOXO,
Jeslee
